1. Is your show just about climate change?

No. The word 'climate' refers to many types of climate, including the physical climate of the world and the political and cultural climate of our lives. However, the realities of climate change are explored critically in my show just as all other topics.

2. I don't want to play your show using my internet browser, I want to copy the actual file onto my computer. Help!

Firstly, don't panic. Secondly, you can download podcasts via a variety of means depending on your level of geekiness.

3. Why isn't there any music on your show?

Due to copyright reasons, all music in my show has been removed. Any music that remains has been approved by the artist for distribution. It is for this reason that my radio show runs for 2hrs, but my podcast usually runs about 1hr.

9. How did you get 'A Climate Affair' featured on iTunes?

From iTunes FAQ:

At iTunes, we’re constantly on the lookout for podcasts that are breaking new ground, have new or unusual content, or just capture our interest. While there are no sure-fire ways to get your podcast featured (and no, we do not accept payments for promotion), there are some minimum requirements. To be featured by iTunes, podcasts must have:

1. An image. For image specs, see the iTunes RSS Tags section in the technical spec.
2. A robust and accurate description.
3. Proper language, category, and explicit tagging.
4. Acceptable audio and/or video production quality.

In most cases, we avoid promotion of podcasts that are themselves merely promotions for other media products, such as films or albums. In addition, featured podcasts must be regularly updated with new episodes, usually with a minimum of 3 episodes available. The episodes should be released on a regular and predictable basis, with the most recent release in the past two weeks. More than 100 podcasts are submitted every day, so it is impossible to feature all of the good ones.

The most effective thing you can do to be considered for feature is to raise interest in your podcast and drive subscriptions via iTunes. If a podcast is taking off, it tends to get our attention.

10. Who is Kate Conroy?

Kate Conroy is doing her PhD in cognitive science. Her interest in the environment began at an early age going camping with her family. As a teenager Kate was a scout leader and a surf-lifesaver. During her undergraduate degree she became very interested in environmental philosophy and environmental ethics. She has worked as a field manager for NJPIRG and sucessfully campaigned to pass the Clean Car Act in 2004. She has been inspired by both the environment and academia. But, the urgency of the world's current climate crisis motivated her to become more pro-active, hence A Climate Affair was born.
